Master's Degree Programme in Finance, Faculty of Business Studies

NEWS! The University of Vaasa's Master’s Degree Programme in Finance has again passed the international EPAS quality accreditation. The highest level five-year EPAS accreditation the master's programme has received is a testimony that the education is at top level internationally.

The Master's Degree Programme in Finance focuses on the theory of finance and financial analysis from an international perspective. The programme provides an overview of corporate finance, investments, and option pricing. Students will develop a specialisation in the areas of corporate finance and investments, such as the evaluation of stocks and bonds, financial markets, option pricing, capital budgeting, cost of capital, long-term financial policy, and other related topics of modern finance.

The career prospects of accounting and finance graduates are excellent worldwide. Graduates from the Master's Degree Programme in Finance have been very successful in their careers both in Finland and internationally. Furthermore, the high-quality research and scientific teaching have placed the Department of Accounting and Finance among the top research centres in Europe.

To be eligible for admission to the Master's Degree Programme in Finance you should already have completed your Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field such as business studies or mathematical sciences. The study programme leads to a Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration degree, and it can be completed in two years. The intake of the programme is 20 students, and the application period is once a year.

There are no special entrance examinations for international Master's programmes. Admission decisions are made on the basis of the required documents, evaluating each complete application individually and selecting those with the best qualifications.



The EPAS evaluation process considers programme delivery and design, programme outcomes, and quality assurance. The quality of education, international aspects and corporate interaction are also emphasized in the evaluation process.
