Order and Delivery Terms

General

The publications of the University of Vaasa are subject to a charge. The University of Vaasa sells publications online to individuals aged 18 or over, businesses, organisations and public-sector organisations in Finland and abroad according to its own judgement, in compliance with these terms. The University of Vaasa reserves the right to refuse to sell publications to people who have repeatedly returned publications that they have ordered.

The University of Vaasa is not liable for any mistakes in the information regarding publications, and reserves the right to change prices without prior notification.

Ordering

Publications can be ordered on the University of Vaasa website. If any problems occur, you should immediately contact the publication sales staff of the University of Vaasa. Your order is complete when a notification announcing that the order form has been successfully submitted appears in your browser. The University of Vaasa cannot guarantee the delivery of all publications that you have ordered. When ordering large numbers of publications, please contact the publication sales staff to ensure availability.

Prices

The pricing of publications changed on 1 March 2011. The new prices apply to books published on or after 1 March 2011.

Prices are shown in euros and they do not include postage, processing costs or VAT. VAT will be added to the price. The University of Vaasa reserves the right to change prices without prior notification.

Postage

The cost of postage is determined by Itella Oyj’s postal rates.

Processing costs

Processing costs are €5 per delivery. VAT will be added to the costs. If several orders are made at the same time (and the delivery address is the same), processing costs are charged only once.

Processing order information

When you place an order, you will be asked to fill in an order form for the publication in question. You must provide the following information:

Number of publications
Customer’s name
Customer’s email address
Delivery address
Invoicing address (if different from delivery address)

The following are required fields: number of publications, customer’s name, customer’s email address and delivery address. Orders are received by the publication sales staff of the University of Vaasa.

The University of Vaasa uses the information provided on the order form for processing the order, invoicing and communication. By filling in the form, you agree to the University of Vaasa using the information for these purposes. In accordance with the law, the University of Vaasa will not disclose this information to third parties.

The information you provide when placing an order will only be used by people who need it in order to perform their work.

Delivery

Publications are delivered as 1st class letters or parcels, depending on the weight of the publications included in the order. If you order several publications, every effort is made to deliver them in the same shipment.

The delivery time usually ranges from a couple of business days to a few weeks.

The University of Vaasa cannot guarantee the arrival of publications within this period, since unforeseen delays may occur.

Whenever possible, customers will be notified of any delivery problems and delays.

If you wish to cancel or change an order, please contact the publication sales staff of the University of Vaasa. If a product included in your order cannot be delivered, you will be notified as soon as possible.

Payment

The shipment includes a dispatch note. A separate invoice will be delivered to you a few weeks after the arrival of the publications. The invoice will fall due 14 days after its date of arrival.

All delivered products will remain the property of the University of Vaasa until they have been paid for in full.

If your payment has not been recorded in the system of the University of Vaasa by the due date, a reminder will be sent to you by post. If the payment is delayed, interest on arrears will be charged as provided by the Finnish Interest Act. In addition, a reminder charge of €5 will be collected. The payment must be made to the account indicated in the reminder letter. If no payment is received following a reminder, the case may be referred to a partner organisation.

If an invoice is lost, please contact the publication sales staff of the University of Vaasa, and we will provide you with the necessary information. Always use the reference number when making a payment.

Returning a product

Private customers are entitled, under the Finnish Consumer Protection Act, to return products within 14 days of delivery, provided that the product is unused and in a re-saleable condition. In these cases, it is important that the customer encloses a copy of the dispatch list or a letter indicating the customer’s name, address and other order information. This ensures that the publication sales staff of the University of Vaasa know which order the return is for.

Please use the original packaging in which the publications were delivered, if possible. Wrap the publications carefully so that they will not be damaged during posting.
