Experts may lie, cheat and make mistakes

Modern life requires us to rely on experts. But experts are not always reliable. They may lie, cheat, or make mistakes. When are experts more reliable and when are they less reliable? Professor Roger Koppl from the University of Syracuse will answer to these questions. He will hold an open lecture on his fortcoming book Expert Failure on Thursday, 1st of June at the University of Vaasa. Lecture is open for everyone.

Based on his research findings, Uusitalo develops the case company’s competitiveness by implementing a process management approach to its challenging and dynamic global business environment. He also creates a process development concept for developing and maintaining the case company’s sustainable competitive advantage.



University of Vaasa is conducting research on energy literacy

In a new project, researchers from the University of Vaasa is studying the energy literacy of consumers. - The purpose of the research is to create information on the consumer action in electricity markets, says Professor Panu Kalmi.The survey data will be collected by using an internet tool. The researchers will combine data on electricity consumption to survey data.

Jari Kuusisto appointed as the rector of the University of Vaasa 1.2.2017–31.12.2020

The board of the University of Vaasa has appointed Jari Kuusisto as the rector of the University of Vaasa during the term 1.2.2017 – 31.12.2020. Suvi Ronkainen is still recovering from a difficult illness, and she continues as a part-time senior advisor of the management until 31.7.2018. Since June 2015, Kuusisto has managed rector’s duty on interim basis.



The University of Vaasa awarded Research Act and Teaching Act of the Year 2016

The University of Vaasa granted the Research Act and Teaching Act awards of last year in the anniversary ceremony on Friday 27th of January. Research Act of the Year 2016 award was granted to Assistant Professor Susanna Kultalahti from the Faculty of Business Studies. Professor Pirkko Vartiainen from the Faculty of Philosophy received the Teaching Act of the Year 2016 award.
